Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is a branch of Allied Health and rehabilitation that uses specially designed techniques, exercises, and equipment to help individuals regain or improve their physical abilities. Clients are assessed through posture, movement, strength, function, and palpation to specify deficiencies contributing to pain and disability. This information is used to develop a treatment plan designed to fit the client's lifestyle and help them work toward their goals. Treatments can consist of exercise, nutritional consultation, modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis), and manual therapies (see Manual Therapy).

Licensure as a physical therapist requires university level training and ongoing education to maintain skills and keep abreast of new developments. The Lighthouse staff are all licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants with extensive advanced training. They are all dedicated to providing the most advanced rehabilitation treatments available.
